So i need help here. I’m a very good student, with a very high GPA (top 3% of my class; never let my grades drop) and a lot of extracurriculars. My essays are pretty good too (if I might say so myself :P)!
The only problem I have is with standardized testing. I’m on a 29 in the ACT and a 1980 on the SAT. I’ve taken two subject SATs so far: 670 in one, 690 in the other.
How strong do you think my chances are at Cornell, Brown, Duke, Dartmouth, Tufts and UChicago? (of course, I’m only talking about my reach colleges here :P)

Also, I’m an international student and have no hooks.

You might have better luck posting this thread in the Chances forum. The ‘Cornell 2017’ section appears to be reserved for incoming members of the Cornell class of 2017, currently comprised only of those who were accepted ED.

Honestly is it very difficult to say and I think you know that already. Cornell looks for really good applicants but at the same time, They also care about the bottom 10% of applicant just as they do for the top 10%. I ave heard that people have gotten into Cornell with Cs and Ds. At university perhaps you might have a fresh start and do better. Low high school grades aren’t the end of the world. But if you have time try to improve on your grades. Perhaps u can submit better scores.

I know someone who got in with an 1850. If the rest of your application was good then I see no reason for your scores to have an entirely detrimental bearing on your decision. Other than that good luck.
