speaking five languages, does effect in admission?
Maybe, but it seems like you need much more to have a hook such as athletics, musical talent, community service – some kind of passion. We would need more information.
@MAandMEmom A hook I’d not necessary. Often on this site I see people declaring you need to be some Carnegie Hall Wizard to get in. I don’t think that’s true. I think finding 1 or 2 strengths you have, analyzing those, finding out how they have impacted you on both a surface and a deeper level, and cohesively showcasing these thoughts in your essays/interviews could replace a hook. That’s what I think differentiated my Deerfield and Exeter interviews/essays(where I was accepted) to those of Andover(rejected).
@lemanhotski its helpful to look at the BS admission and ECS of this cycle and previous ones, to get a sense of what student the schools desire.
Not if you’re an international student; multilinguals are pretty much a given. I’d find other aspects that will make you stand out.
That’s why I also included passion in my list @Jbrugen87201 as I think they are super interested in students with a deep passion for something and not necessarily a large collection of ECs. My DD had pretty same result as you – accept at Exeter and Deerfield, waitlist at Andover.
@MAandMEmom guess I didn’t see that. I definitely agree it’s more about the intensity of the passions than the amounts.
