admission?

would it be unlikely that I get into NYU with a 21 act score? a friend of mine got into Princeton and Georgetown with a low 20s score so maybe it isn’t totally impossible…

Yes, virtually impossible, sorry.

I don’t think it’s impossible. it’s only a section of the application. a score doesn’t define a person, so regardless there is a likelihood it’s really all up to the person reading tbh.

If you think you know the answer, why ask us?

You might have a shot if you are an URM and have a high class rank and high GPA and have overcome adversity. They might let you into their liberal studies program. To be honest, NYU is really not worth it for most people. It is just really expensive and none of their programs except for stern are really worth the money for the average student.

rebeccar is right. if you think you already know the answer, why’d you bother posting your question? and yes, a 21 is definitely very low for nyu’s standards. a 31 might get you in.

NYU’s Liberal Studies is a program that takes students who are still getting their feet under them. It helps them grow into the rest of NYU. NYU is a great school, sort of along the lines of a great public research university, like UNC or University of Wisconsin Madison, that sort of thing, but with a lot more panache and obviously access to NYC and its connections and internships. The Liberal Studies program may offer the intimacy that the school sometimes lacks. Another program that may offer community and intimacy is the Gallatin program, which allows a student to create their own major and focus.

NYU does not have great financial aid. That’s what people mean by “not worth it” in my opinion. If you can afford an expensive school, then go for it.

If you live in the NYC area, for a cheaper education with many of the same advantages, consider the CUNY system. There is great value there. And you’d graduate probably without debt.
