Admissions Chances For Certain Universities

Hello, I wanted to know how my chances are for my top 3 choices for college right now. Auburn University, UH Manoa, and University of Mississippi. My current GPA is 2.5 heading into my senior year and I got a 20 on my first time taking the ACT without studying for it once. I plan on trying to take it again and studying for it this time. I have more colleges I plan to apply to but I just wanted to know if anyone had an idea on my admission chances as of right now?

Definitely study for the ACT and take it again. Right now, your ACT is low for Auburn and Miss.

If you can get your ACT up a couple of points, your chances will improve.

The minimum requirements for U Hawaii at Manoa are 2.8 GPA and a composite of 22 on the ACT.

For Auburn, their posted average GPA for freshman is 3.83, with the middle 50% of ACT scores at 24-30.

U Mississippi has a variety of minimum requirements, based on several factor, not least of which is completion of their College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC). Check here to see if you qualify.

Admission requirements for pretty much any school are clearly located within the Admission section of their web sites. If you have questions regarding your specific situation, you may want to reach out directly to your target schools.

Meanwhile, there’s not a lot you can do to significantly improve your GPA, so do what you can to dedicate your self to the test prep. I would encourage you to take the ACT in both September and October.
Also, keep searching for additional schools that meet your criteria.

Good luck.
I’m confident if you do the research, you’ll find a school that will be a great fit.

If you are able to, definitely spend time improving your GPA. If not, then as long as you can get your ACT score up to 25+, then Auburn becomes a low reach while the other two become a target. (This is based on the stats alone; I have no idea what your EC’s are, your intended major, or how well you will write you essay so these predictions may not be certain!)
