Admissions chances for different majors?

I'm a prospective student and I applied as a Business Administration major. I did not choose an alternate major.

I just realized that the Business Administration major is part of UC Irvine's School of of Business and not part of UC Irvine's School of Social Science.

I've heard that applying into a School of Business as a freshman will weaken my chances of getting into UC Irvine in general, as opposed to as if I applied as a Business Economics major in the School of Social Sciences or even as a English major in the School of Humanities? Is this true?

The reason I think it's like this is because of how admissions works at UCLA. At UCLA, admissions is slightly different in the sense that the majority of majors are grouped into a generic "College of Letters and Sciences." Admission chances for any major with the College of Letters and Sciences does not vary. However, admission chances, for instance, the School of Engineering is slightly lower. In other words, applying to UCLA as a engineer is a bit harder than applying as a English major.

So, is this how it's like at UC Irvine too? Particularly for Business Administration? Do I have a lower chance of getting in than some other applicant with identical stats who decided to major in Business Economics or English?

Not sure how it is now... back in '09, if you didn't get into your primary major, you have the chance of being accepted into your alternative major.

But to your question, yes it will be harder to get into Biz Admin vs getting in as Biz Econ.

i have the exact same question... bump

Business Admin. is probably the hardest major to get into at UCI (well, not sure, perhaps it's Nursing). They only accept around 150 or so freshman (not quite sure on the number but it's low).

Yep. The Paul Merage School of Business accepts <200 freshman students every year from what I've heard. Now, I don't know how many people apply for Bus. Admin. but 200 isn't that many.

Will this destroy your chances? If you have good stats, no.

Just curious, what are your stats if you are worried about getting in?? But yea, if you have the stats to get into UCI but not Business admin they will probably admit with an undeclared admission most likely

Just curious has anyone been accepted to an interdisciplinary studies like mine (computer science and engineering) and if so, what are your stats.. Does anyone know when the decisions for these majors will be posted
