<p>In a conversation earlier this week one of my friends said he was wondering how likely he is to be admitted to the colleges he’s applying to. I’ve read chances threads on this site before and mentioned this as a possibly helpful resource. Could anyone who is knowledgeable about the subject estimate his chances at UVA, Amherst, William & Mary, and Carleton? (Where relevant, I’ve made minor modifications to protect privacy. And yes, “Alan Robinski” is also a pseudonym.)</p>

in Arlington, VA (ranked #63 nationally by Newsweek, 2010)
GPA: 3.6; Class rank: ~800th of 1800
12th grade classes: Vector calc, Comp sci,
AP Gov, AP Physics C (both), AP Stat, AP Eng lit</p>
<p>SAT I: ~2350
SAT II: ~800s in Math, Chem, Physics
AP exams taken: Chem, Calc BC, Euro, USH, Psych (Avg. 4.4)</p>
<p>Notable ECs: Varsity soccer (3 years), captain of the chess team,
president of environmental club, assistant teacher at a summer school program
Essays: I read them over. Nothing super amazing but pretty good.
Recommendations: Don’t know. I’m assuming everyone’s recs are positive.</p>
