Just curious if anybody knows historically if decisions have come before april 1st.
Thanks!

Last year, decisions were released on March 25.

I don’t think this year decisions can come out before April. over 40% more applicants than that of last year!! Those AOs perhaps can get crazy if they can release decision around 25th.

Decisions will definitely be out before April. My dad knows someone who works closely with admissions who said they are pretty much done with decisions. I think he said the date would be around March 19th to let us know!

O MY chitowngirl are you sure of that??? with 42% increase in applicants and they can release results much earlier than 25th?? Do they really read each app, including deferrals?

They had an increase for EA, too, and they managed to get them out relatively early. Don’t underestimate the power of coffee and super-adcoms!

It would really be something if the admissions committee forgot to read all the deferred applications :o

I would imagine most decisions are made about 7-10 days before they actually release decisions… So yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re released early.

march 19th? wut?

It will give them a leg up on the competition. They announced the scholarships earlier than usual and they seem definitely interested in a better yield. Good luck to all.

I can believe the early decision date. I mean MIT had a huuuuge rise this year too, but they’re still releasing it on their normal date.

Not surprised at all for an earlier decision date than previous. Someone suggest before that it’s not unusual for a new management trying to beat past records or do things differently. Considering the marketing campaign, the increase no. of EA acceptances, the gifts, the likies…I just hope that it is not doing so at the expense of RDers. Good luck to all!

Well, I guess it really depends on the enrollment rate that Chicago predicted. If they predicted a high enrollment rate, then we RDers have a massive bloodbath coming up.

March 19th? whaaat.

Guys, calm down! We’re still in the process of working everything out on our side here. So, rest assured that you’ll know sometime before April 1st.

@UChicagoPSAC: I think a lot of UChicago applicants are in panic due to 42% increase in applicants, hence much lower chance of admittance. Anyway, does the admission committe has a slightest idea when the decisions can be posted? (Of course, we all know that you guys are working your best!)

A lower admit rate this yr for Chicago RDs is a given but I hope not as much as simple math of available figures would dictate. The enrollment rate will be lower becos there “shd” be more cross-admits across similar colleges, esp for the EAs who need not commit like EDs in other schools. The U can of course offset this impact and keep the yield nos up with generous financials to EAs (meaning RDers have less). All and all, RDers are expendable!

I’m saying this without substance or disrespect to anyone, just to air something out of anxiety while waiting.

letter or online decision

March 19, has that been confirmed by someone from admissions or is it just speculation??

Admissions hasn’t officially confirmed it. Mostly just a rumor. Also, seeing how that’s 5 days away…it doesn’t seem likely.
