My son is pursuing playing football in the Ivy League. He has attended a number of camps and the coaches have expressed interest in him. His AI is 197 and he is an all-conference or 2nd or 3rd team all-state player. I view him as being on the bubble to be getting into a number of schools.
For those of you that have gone through the process, based on the limited information that I have provided, what are the odds of him getting into Harvard or Princeton.

Welcome to CC!

The 197 AI is, as you say, on the bubble, so there is no way to predict if your son has a real chance. You will learn more in the late summer and early fall–if coaches begin to offer him official visits, request transcripts, and call frequently the liklihood of being put “on the list” increases.

There is a lot of useful information on the CC Athletic Recruits site under specialty college admissions that might interest you: Ivy recruiting, likely letters, etc.

For now, remember that admissions always has the last say in an athlete’s application, no matter how many promises or compliments from a coach the applicant receives.

How do you calculate your AI?

You can google ‘academic index calculator’ and proceed from there. You will need class rank, SATs, etc.
