Admissions Ignoring Me?

So I’ve emailed a college’s admission representatives twice now asking a specific question pertaining to my application and I haven’t received an answer. I first emailed the admissions representative for my specific location, and when I didn’t get an answer after over a week and a half, I emailed the director of admissions. A week since the second email, I still haven’t heard anything. Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want to be annoying or pushy but I’m not sure who else I can reach out to

Either contact the general office of undergrad admissions through the email or question forum on the website, or try try your local rep again.

Or pick up the phone and call the admissions office during business hours.

The only way not to “be annoying or pushy” is to drop it and hope for the best at this point, imo.

Given how busy AO’s are right now, it’s possible that they think your question is an extremely low priority. It may be important to you but not them, or the answer won’t change your application or admission chances. If that’s the case pushing it won’t help your cause.

@gk1733 Is your question so specific to your application that you cannot find out the answer on the website? Being the busiest time of the year for AOs, and high number of apps they have to review, it will be annoying if you are just reaching out to them for an answer rather than doing the research to find the answer. If it is a question that is very specific to you, is your college counselor aware of the question? They can pick up the phone and make that call rather than you having to call. If it is a question you are willing to share on CC and it is not the type of question that is unique to your situation, I am sure you will get good advice/ information here.

Is this a question you need answered in order to complete your application? Are you sure the answer is not on the website or instructions? If the answer to these two questions is yes, then I would call the admissions office and ask the question of whoever picks up the phone. If the answer is no, consider if you really need or want to take up the time of an admission officer who is swamped right now.

@paveyourpath @happy1 yes, I’m sure the answer isn’t online. I was a finalist for a binding ED scholarship for a specific school but didn’t receive the scholarship, but I still sent in my ED application and everything else. I was asking if they would be disregarding my application or considering it for regular decision as I know some of the other schools with the scholarship had. Thank you though! I’ll probably call on Monday

Go it. If you can’t get through you may want to have your guidance counselor get involved in helping you to withdraw the ED application. I’d ask them to move the application to RD since you didn’t get the scholarship.

@gk1733 Have you tried contacting the financial aid office? They may be able to assist you. Even if they can’t answer your question, they may transfer your call to an admissions person’s direct line rather than the general number.

@paveyourpath I haven’t! Do you think I should email them or call?

@gk1733 Will you be able to call Monday morning? If you have class and won’t be able to call Monday morning, send an email now or tomorrow. When you are free to call them on Monday, check to see if they have replied and if they have not, give them a call.

@gk1733 I think you should call. Make sure to prepare before you dial. Have your story ready and your questions prepared.

Good luck!

@paveyourpath I probably won’t be able to call until the afternoon so I’ll do it then! Thank you!

@STEM2017 will do!! Thanks!

If you have a student id or any kind of identifying number particularly for that school (versus the common app number) have that handy when you call.

@scotlandcalling They did send me one, so I definitely will. Thanks!
