Admissions process at boarding schools

I read somewhere that boarding schools have something called rounds when it comes to selecting students.

Can someone elaborate on this, and the whole process as well?

@CaliMex Thanks!! That was very insightful

FWIW, Putney has students involved with their admissions process. There used to be a video link on CC - but can’t find it.
