Admissions with 3.2-3.6 gpas - where are you getting in?

SO many posts with high gpa peeps, just curious where middle gpa achievers like me are getting in.

Way more kids are in your range so thank you for letting people know it is possible to get into decent schools even if you dont have a perfect GPA.

My DS21 has similar stats and has been accepted at MSU and ASU. Waiting to hear from Oregon and Indiana.

Thanks for this post. My S21 is 3.7/4.4/1460 with great ECs but it seems like half the folks on CC have an unweighted 4.0

Rejected: Stanford (Hail Mary)

Accepted: University of Arizona, University of Oregon

Waiting On: Loyola Chicago, University of Washington, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Berkeley, LA, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz

@SamBone, there is a thread here called “Parents of the High School Class of 2021-3.0-3.4 GPA”. It is a friendly bunch, and you should find like-minded people there. Lots of people on the thread have kids with stats slightly higher than that, but are looking for great-fit schools that are not necessarily the Top-40 colleges and universities most talked about on this forum. Right now folks on the thread are discussing the schools their kids are applying to/have been accepted to, so feel free to jump in!

90 average, strong upward trend
28 ACT
EIC of the paper, in a few clubs
Strong essay, very strong recs

In at : Loyola Chicago, Loyola Baltimore, temple, Emerson, manhattan, SUNY cortland

Was going to do a Hail Mary to UVA since it’s my alma matter and she’d be put into the in state pile but decided not to.

Going with Loyola Chicago w/ $20k per year merit . Relieved to be done!

My son’s stats are in line with yours. We are in Texas (full pay) and wanted to stay close to home. He’s been accepted to:

Texas Tech (with some merit aid)
UTD
UNT (will find out about merit aid in January, expecting a little based on his class rank and submitted test score)

Waiting to here from Texas A&M and UT Austin (very reachy reach lol not expecting to get in).

UW GPA 3.4 W GPA 3.9, 3.86 at the time of applications.
7 APs, a bunch of honors that I’ve not counted.
I’ve been told I’m a pretty good essay writer so that I think helped me.
Good community service
Part time job
Very very high level athlete
Leadership roles

*only 4 aps: whap (4), apush(idk), aplang(idk), and aplit(not yet)
1100 sat , 25 act ( ik they’re bad lol )
club swim 4 yrs, hs varsity swim team 4 yrs, and swim team captain senior yr
aerospace academy and robotics team for 4 years
120+ community service hours
I was only allowed to apply to florida schools so I only applied to 8 schools.
UNF : accepted fall 2021 ( the only school I applied to for fall )
UWF : accepted summer 2021
FGCU: (was no computer science so I just did IT) accepted summer 2021
FAU: accepted to my second choice which was health science summer 2021
FSU: rejected :slight_smile: (2nd choice) ←
USF: accepted for spring 2022 (3rd choice) ←
UCF: waitlisted as of right now but this is my number 1 choice so we’ll see :slight_smile:

*(also my school has very limited ap options so there’s no fancy stuff like computer science I could’ve taken, they’re just now adding those classes next year thanks to the ap capstone diploma they’re going to do)
