I reallllyyyy want to get into NYU and am wondering what score on my ACT I need to get in. I have a 3.9 GPA, have taken 5 years of french and four years of chinese, have taken completely AP courses, and a substantial amount of volunteer work.

CrystalJ,

These are the ACT scores for NYU from the College Board:

Test Scores
Middle 50% of
First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 610 - 710
SAT Math: 630 - 740
SAT Writing: 620 - 720
ACT Composite: 28 - 31

Your GPA is strong as well as the rigor of your classes. Besides working on your ACT scores, you should see about getting some leadership position in a EC activity that is meaningful to you.

I’m no expert but i believe your GPA, the rigor of your classes, and especially your test scores are what admission is mainly based on, as it seemed to be the case for me. Of course, extracurricular involvement is also a must, but it’s not as important as the ones aforementioned.
