You need to use this scale to determine the GPA that umich will use to evaluate your application. A term GPA should not exceed 4.0.

A+=4.0
A=4.0
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3.0
B-=2.7
C+=2.3
C=2.0
C-=1.7
D+=1.3
D=1.0
D-=0.7
E=0

In general, if you screwed around freshman year, that would not hurt as much as if you did so recently. Your upward trend will be looked at positively, however, your freshman year GPA is quite extreme. When looking at only your academic records, I would say your chances are probably going to be 50/50.
