admitted for Spring and uncertain

Hello everyone, I want to ask for your advice about three questions I have regarding my admission.
I am a transfer student and I applied for comparative literature in Berkeley instead of English Lit because I was missing one the required courses. I applied for English lit in UCLA as well, and now I’ve got admitted to both universities.

First, I want to know can I change my major from comparative lit to English after the first semester? Comp. lit require student to read books in their original language and I only know Farsi beside English, which is not part of their program. So it is mandatory for me to change my major. Is it possible?

Second, Berkeley admitted me for spring instead of fall, and they did not give me any information about my finance. Can I access my FAFSA or the loans I asked for now? Or I must wait until the college starts. (I really need the money)

Third, what are the disadvantages about spring admission. I am concerned about the time of my graduation. If and when I finished my study two years from now, do I have to wait another six months to apply for graduate school?

regarding the above circumstances, should I choose UCLA over Berkeley although I really like to go to Berkeley?

Looks like L&S requires you to declare your major before reaching 90 units, according to http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/transferfaqs.html . For transfer students with up to 70 units on entry, this typically means in the first or second semester after transfer.

Ask L&S and the English department specifically about your situation, including the possibility of completing the remaining English major prerequisite(s) at a CC in the fall, then declaring the English major in the spring when you enter.
