Admitted REA at Stanford, Waitlisted at UC Davis?

I don’t know if anyone will even see this as there is some notice that CC has “hidden” this post, but my son got accepted to UCSD and rejected from UCLA. Nothing yet from Cal Poly SLO so it sounds like most likely either another WL or rejection. Still waiting on Berkeley but based on his other UC and CSU/Cal Poly results I’m not holding my breath there

Your post is not hidden. Congratulations on UCSD! :tada:

Congrats on UCSD. Great option.

Congrats on UCSD! My daughter is a first-year there, so if there are any questions I can answer from that perspective, let me know. It’s definitely a lot more affordable than Stanford (unless you are getting significant aid)!

Everytime I hear about Stanford and its mascot, I always think of this T-shirt I saw being sold in their on campus store:

To be pedantic, Stanford does not have a mascot. The Tree is part of the LSJUMB; some say it’s the LSJUMB’s mascot. I don’t think Stanford wants to be fully responsible for the Tree’s antics

Well, as a member of a multigenerational Cal family, my knowledge of Stanford lore is suitably flawed

I always thought Stanford was a Junior University (the J in LSJU/LSJUMB), but now realizing that they also have a Junior Marching Band. They still don’t march, right?
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:  :football:

When my kids were younger they found my diploma from the Junior University, and for a long time they thought this meant I had gone to community college. I didn’t bother to explain because I thought it was funny

Now that your son is at Cal, I think, going forward, he is obligated to make various snarky jokes on this account…

Absolutely! In fact, he is a campus ambassador and leads tours, giving him the perfect opportunity to make fun of my alma mater in a public setting. I hope he makes the best of it!
