Has anyone been admitted or heard of anyone been admitted to Stanford SCEA with a SAT score about 20XX? I now have a 20XX (nearly 2100) SAT score but is not sure if it is good enough for Stanford (as an international applicant)

anyone please?

There seems to be many more seemingly “underqualified” applicants (at least academically wise) accepted at Stanford than the Ivies. I think Stanford really does look at the whole application holistically, so a below “Stanford average” SAT score won’t be grounds for an automatic rejection. However, you’ll have to make up for it in other parts of your app.

That’s an incorrect perception, nolead. Consult each college’s Common Data Set if you want to compare their student bodies “academically wise”. The fact is that at all of the top universities, the students with academic credentials in those schools’ lower quartiles had one or more hooks that got them admitted. Hooks include URM status, first generation/economically disadvantaged, extraordinary athletic or artistic talent, and to a much lesser extent, legacy status. The lower the stats, the greater the need for hooks, generally speaking, and that is the case at all of the most competitive schools. Stanford does use a holistic evaluation approach (as do the Ivies), and Stanford emphasizes well-written essays, but these aspects can’t resurrect the dead; they can only incrementally improve the prospects of an applicant who is otherwise a contender.

^Yeah, I agree with most of that.

I know a kid. Legacy but not URM admitted early with about a 2050. No higher. Not an athlete.

If you have a hook (URM, legacy, athlete, or done something AMAZING), then sure…you can get in.

However, I remember reading about some unhooked, Asian dude with an 18?? on his SAT. He got in. However, he was a great academic student…just for some reason he fudged up his SAT
