I realize that this is from the Daily Mail, but I thought you dog lovers, especially romanigypsyeyes, would enjoy it.
Quite the opposite actually. I despise the glorification of the sadistic breeding practices that led to Hulk.
Pits are supposed to be medium sized dogs. The obsession around Hulk stands for everything wrong with how many treat animals in this country. And now they’re making a huge profit breeding and selling dogs that will almost certainly face extreme health problems because they are NOT supposed to be like this.
I won’t even click on the link because I refuse to drive traffic to anything that glorifies this.
Every single one of my rescued furbabies has been the product of this pit breeding industry. It makes me sick and should be outlawed. Last summer I saw a headline that said his pups went for a total of a half mil. Do you have any idea how many lives could be saved from death with that kind of money?
Sorry to rant but seeing up close and personal the horrors of this industry has killed any joy I could ever get from his puppies.
Yes, pits aren’t supposed to be that big.
In a related note, chihuahuas and most other small breeds aren’t supposed to be < 5 pounds either.
^ Absolutely. These “designer” dogs are often saddled with health problems and it’s so sad. Not to mention that the dogs who don’t fit the specific characteristics desired are often discarded like trash.
APBT (American Pit Bull Terriers) are supposed to top out at around 70 lb at the most. My ABPT/Staffy is just under 50 and she’s right on target. The other one I have is only ~1/2 pit and she’s in the low 30s but that’s because she seems to be mixed with Jack Russell and some other smaller breeds.
Hulk has very few characteristics of any of the 3 main “pit” breeds and is much more likely to be a cross between some sort of large Mastiff breed (maybe a Boerboel?) and an American Bulldog.
