<p>what exactly does advaned credit do for you?
the Columbia site tells you the things we get for ap/ib/etc tests
but they dont really specify what these advanced credits are.</p>

<p>its my understanding that these credits go towards the overall number of credits you need to graduate. so since you can get 16 credits max before freshman year starts, thats 16 credits out of the 128 credits credits you are going to need by the end of senior year. this helps you spread out the number of classes you end up taking (and consequently your workload).</p>
<p>i think denzera or one of the other frequent posters here talked about this on the main columbia forum on college talk.</p>
