<p>Has anyone, particularly in a humanities major, ever done one of these courses? How difficult was it to arrange? What did you end up doing for it?</p>
<p>I’m interested in proposing an English 199 in the spring semester for independent research/study on a topic I intend to focus on in graduate school. Does that seem an appropriate goal for the 199?</p>
<p>its fairly simple to do. you just have to propose a topic to a prof. ive heard that in the humanities the topic has to be new for the prof. you should find recently published (2005-present) books/articles and propose you both read them and meet periodically to discuss them. most 99/199s require a paper at the end of the semester. its best if you already know the professor from previous semesters.</p>
