No specific number. It depends on what is available to you and what you choose in terms of how rigorous your overall schedule is (both in your counselor’s rating and how admissions readers look at your schedule beyond your counselor’s rating).
Thanks for your reply. My school offers 17 APs but only allows one sophomore year and none freshman year. I have 6 APs and 3 Honors classes. I’m concerned this isn’t enough.
You will be assessed within the context of your own HS. Your school report will make the restrictions clear, along with your GC’s assessment of your rigor.
FWIW, many schools are like yours and limit APs.
