Advantages/Risks of Accepting Admission

My son was accepted to Penn State University Park. He has applications to other school, but Penn State is high in his list.

Does early acceptance improve his choice of housing? Is this true for Special Living Options? On of the presentations he went to at A Summer Day at Penn State really sold the special living options, and yet I get the impression space is limited.

Is the only thing you’d lose by accepting admission and then changing your mind the $330.00 or so deposit.

Yes, accepting the admission offer puts him in line for housing, so his chances of getting what he wants are better. Space for SLOs is limited. The university somewhat disingenously pushes the SLOs, which vary as far as having discernible difference from a standard floor. The majority of students wont even get an admission decision until January, so I wouldn’t worry too much right now unless he has his heart set on a particular SLO or dorm area.
