Adversity Essay Question..

<p>Hello! One of the questions for my college (pharmacy) application essay is: Explain a time when you overcame adversity and what you learned from the experience.</p>

<p>My nephew was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes a few years back. If I were to talk about how this tragedy solidified my desire to become a pharmacist, would that be appropriate? I wasn’t sure since the “adversity” did not directly affect me.</p>

<p>Sounds like they’re asking about something you’ve overcome. Are they also asking why you want to be a pharmacist? Seems like that would be the appropriate place to write about your nephew.</p>

<p>No, that would be an adversity topic for your cousin. That’s an answer to “why do you want to be a pharmacist?”</p>

<p>You have to write about something you struggled with and overcame (low income, death of family member, injury, a particular subject, bullying…)</p>
