On August 1st two schools that I’m interested in, The University of Oklahoma and Mississippi State open their applications. I wanted to get their applications over with and done before school starts, and be able to hear back from them when they start releasing decisions ~1 month later. My test scores aren’t necessarily something to be proud of if you’ve seen my posts before (1590 SAT/23 ACT) and I’m planning to retake them both at the next opportunity before I apply to the rest of my schools. Is it a wise idea to apply to both of these before I take the ACT/SAT again? For MS State, the Middle 50% ACT range is 20-27, and Oklahoma is 23-29. MS State has a 68% Admit rate and OU has a 82% admit rate. My GPA is a 3.79 UW and a 4.67 W, and I’m ranked in the top 4% of my class at a public HS in NC. I’ve got EC’s but i don’t feel like writing them because they’re meaningless to both of these schools.

What do you all think? I would sure hate to apply to a school early pretty sure I’d get in the be left with a big “what if” if I applied later with a maybe improved test score.

I’m pretty that with those stats you will be automatically admitted to OU. I’m not 100% sure, so you should call the school, look it up online, etc. So applying early won’t hurt you for specifically OU.

However, if you were planning on attending the honors college, or wanting a merit scholarship, you may want to bring your scores up and apply later. Although, I’m under the impression that the big merit scholarships require a 32+

Edit: the auto-admit may be for in-staters only, so look into it

Well on the website theres an “admissions criteria” page where it has a little chart for both in state and OOS students, with a (this) or (this) kind of situation, I’m assuming for admissions - I’ve been curious about it. I’ll probably shoot them an email tonight or tomorrow. I’m not looking into honors college or anything like that. Here it is:

Yep that’s the chart I’m thinking of! Definitely talk to them, but I’m pretty sure the stats on that chart means auto-admit
