Advice for CC to top tier schools?

Hi guys,

This is my first post here, but I have read many of the articles and forums on this website. You guys are always extremely helpful, so I thought I’d ask for some advice. I’m a CC student in LA and I’m applying to some top tier schools, such as the ivy leagues and Stanford, this winter as a math major. I’m very aware of how difficult it is to transfer into these schools, and I will also be applying to a few UC schools as backups. However, I do want to be as competitive as possible in the application pool for these top schools. I was hoping to get some advice as to possible ways I could make my application stand out more. I know research for STEM majors is very valuable, but I have not been able to find any research opportunities. Here are my stats so far:

College GPA: 4.0 (44 Units after this fall)
ACT: 34
SAT II: 710 (Math 2) and 690 (Physics)

College EC’s: Internship with Investment Firm, Math Club, Honors Society (Tau Alpha Epsilon, Transfer Alliance Program and Phi Theta Kappa), Math tutor for local boys and girls club, VP of student body, and I am performing in my school’s Ballet production (somewhat interesting considering I come from a heavy football background).

Recommendations: So far I have one recommendation from the head of the math department. I’m working towards getting another one this fall.

HS Record: I was an average student in high school, so I know that might affect my chances.

I will also be applying for scholarships this fall.

Like I said, I’m just hoping to get some input on ways I can be more competitive. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
