Advice for Math?

I took the ACT twice. The first time I got E:23 M:26 R:24 S:25 W: 09. The second time I got E:31 M:25 R:34 S:33 W:11
I improved by a lot on every section besides math.

I am applying ED to Cornell ILR.

I would like at least 28 on the math section.

Any tips?

As a person much more proficient in math than in language, I go through math section like a breeze from 1-40. From there, I take a little more time on each question to make sure I get to the answer choices. The only tip anyone can give you for improving your scores on the math section is: make sure you understand algebra to trig and don’t make any stupid mistakes by misreading the question or marking the wrong answer blob.

You might want to experiment with these tips:

-Unlike the other sections of the ACT, Math is in the order of difficulty. If you are aiming for around 30, it may be wise to skip a few of the most difficult questions in the latter part of the exam and spend more time on the easier ones. (Just as a general guideline: Based on a scale from a free ACT test on its website, you can get a scale score of 28 with a raw score of 48-50.)

-Study the basic formulas and ways of applying them specifically to the ACT Math questions. (If you do some practice with the ACT Math study guides, you’ll notice a general tendency of the types of questions and the formulas needed to solve them.)

-Practice, practice, practice. It really does improve your time management skill, an important factor in the ACT.
