ADVICE FOR SAT PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO THE ACT

Though I am definitely an SAT person, I forced myself to take the ACT about 2 weeks ago. It was definitely a transition.

Basically, everything was A LOT more fast paced. On the SAT, people can “zone out” for 5 minutes and still finish with a few minutes to spare, but on the ACT, you would pretty much need to work at lightning speed for the rest of the test to even have a shot at a decent score.

On to the specifics:

English:
I felt like it was a lot easier than SAT writing. It tested more of the skills learned in high school english/grammar class

Math:
easy for those who are strong in math. just brush up on geometry, algebra II, and basic trig and you should be good. very straight forward (

BIG SECRET: the negative of the correct answer and/or its some multiple/factor of it should also be among the answer choices if it really is the correct answer (WORKS 99.9% of the time). GO AHEAD TEST IT OUT!

READING:

SPEED SPEED SPEED!

Do not spend to much time on each passage

SPEED IS KEY HERE!

SCIENCE:
Do not try to understand what is actually going on in the passage.
I got a 36 and truthfully, I had no clue what any of the experiments were about.

just practice how to locate and quickly interpret numbers.
