I’ve applied to all of my colleges, and at this point in time, I am trying to look for external scholarships in the hope that I can try and reduce the fees that I might need to pay.
Where should I look? What kind of scholarships should I be looking for?
Start with your GC they usually have a list. Then google scholarships with your major, also look to see if your parents employers offer any scholarships, check with your church, credit union, civic clubs, clubs you are a member of Boy Scouts? Be aware that these type scholarships and are usually a few hundred to a few thousand dollar and are usually one time awards. Also before you spend a lot of time researching scholarships and writing essays look at how your potential colleges will deal with outside scholarships. If you are getting need based aid some colleges will simply reduce your FA by the amount of the outside scholarship.
