I currently am a junior at Kutztown university in eastern PA. I visited UC Santa Barbara today and decided for sure id like to go there next year. I have oh taken 12 credits a semester and If I got in nxt year I’d be a transfer junior. The requirements are 2.8 and have 2.8 now and and will hopefully achieve a 3.0-3.2 by the end of my winter classes. Freshman year I really screwed up but every semester since I have improved and itd show on my transcript.
Any advice for increasing chance of acceptance or anything to advise me on? I’d greatly appreciate it I’ve taken all required core classes by end of winter

^^Increase your GPA and depends on your major. What is your major?
Transfer is all about your GPA! I am aiming for transferring into UCSB next year as well so I researched and made an virtual appointment with the UCSB counselor online.

Try to be at least 3.2 (But don’t take my word for it, higher the GPA the higher your chances are though)

Finish your general education and by the time you transfer you should be working on your upper-division major courses.

The 2.8 GPA requirement is just a minimum GPA to have their application looked at. Anything lower than a 2.8 is an automatic rejection.

Chances are low due to a fact that you are transferring from out of state. The rate for students being accepted to UC from another University is also low. My advice is you should defiantly increase your GPA to at least 3.5 or higher and spend your time working on personal statement.

I hope that helps.

interdasting

And you’re not getting in with a 2.8(the bare freaking minimum) or a 3.2. The average acceptance is like a 3.34. You’re also out of state, good luck.

It’s a legit school and to the OP, to be honest, a 2.8 is rather dismal for any major and will be a really long shot for UCSB. Even if you ace your classes and pull it up this quarter to about a 3.2 your chances aren’t looking very good.

What is your major? That would help people here to better assess your chances.
