Advice highly needed

so I want to transfer…right now i have a 3.7 but the science class i have to take for spring semester is only offering a really crappy professor who lacks proper English communication skills. The class would be needed for med school but should I risk my GPA and take her class or take another science related class(not for med school) to not damage my GPA?

Make sure you are taking the hardest class available. If the alternative class is a lower difficulty it will hurt your chances of transferring.

hmm…im not sure about difficulty the class is only a 3 cred class…both are one is human bio and the other is molecular bio.It not about the difficulty but more so the teacher…they have a 4 cred science class available w/a good teacher …do u think i should opt for that class instead?

Yes the deal is to take the most rigorous courseload possible without messing up the gpa unless u are trying to transfer to a school that has particular gpa requirement go for the tougher class…also don’t make premature assumptions about this professor don’t listen to what others have to say give the guy a chance and if u think he is really crappy I am sure ur college would have a course drop deadline often 1-3 weeks after the course starts

yea thats true…i think the deadline is like a week…I shall see …im just really nervous b.c of her accent, and its a 7am class…

Also if you plan applying for fall 2010, this semester grades do not matter as much.

A “bad” grade before you transfer will hurt you twice-- during the transfer process and for med school. On the other hand, a “less rigorous class” would only hurt you during the transfer process.

I think they matter for the colleges i’m applying to…like Elon, the app deadline is in June so they shall see everything, most of the colleges i’m applying to have late deadlines…v

@college_ruled, that’s an excellent point

Sabrina, you should try to replace it with a course of equal or greater challenge and is taught by a teacher who has- as you put it- “proper English communication skills”.

yeah,i think i should do that as well but alot of the science classes have been canceled and the only classes I can take for my polysci major are intro classes,I might be able to take a advanced english class…but since im a freshman Im limited, but I wouldnt say my classes are easy.Would you evalute the course load im taking:
Bio-stats
Molecular Bio
Latin II
Theology
