<p>I’m a sophomore in high school but I’ve been looking at Columbia for about a year now. I was just wondering–for those of you who just applied or who have been accepted previously, is there any advice you can give me? This is what my stats look like now–what else can I do to boost my chances for getting in? I want to start early, rather than wait until it’s too late.</p>
<p>GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
Rank: 1 of about 250
Courseload: I’m set to take all the APs and adv. classes that my school offers. I’ve also taken Spanish II, III, and IV at the local community college.<br>
ACT scores: 29 (I know this is very, very bad–I scored a 36 in reading and a 35 in English, but my math and science scores were only average–I’m working on this!)
PSAT score: 208 (doesn’t count this year, obviously)
SAT scores: Have not yet taken.</p>
<p>Extra curriculars:
-I tutor Hispanic children at an elementary school during the fall semester, 3 nights/week
-I’m part of several elite audition-only choirs
-Youth Court attorney
-My debate partner and I are ranked 25th in the state (as sophomores)
-Class president
-Student representative to many, many various groups/events
-Voice lessons for 6 years
-I’ve won many contests for fiction prose
-High school swim team</p>
<p>If I continue along this path, do I even have a chance of getting in? Absolutely any advice you can give me is welcome. I know that I’m starting this early and I shouldn’t probably be posting my stats till I’m actually applying, but I really would like to get a feel for what else I should be doing. THANK YOU!</p>
