As we think about all of the time we will be spending at home this summer, I am considering an above ground pool. Looking for something that one or two adults can use at a time, maybe with a float or something. I know I am late to the party. My quick search online shows many stores are already sold out of these thymes of pools. I just wondered whether anyone owns an above ground pool and what your experiences have been. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I buy them each summer for the dogs. 30 inches deep & 8 feet across. Unfortunately, they are unavailable this summer. All seem to be manufactured in China.
As for advice: Make sure that your ground is level.
We had a small one for a few years. It was frankly a pain. Hard to keep it clean. Our hot tub is much easier to maintain. We just turn the heat down in the summer.
I literally saw someone post today that they bought this for their family of 4: mom, dad, two small children. There was a picture of them all in it. : )
We wanted a pool, but our yard sloped too much. We got an 8 person hot tub instead. D2 loved it! Big enough for a friend and 2 tubes. Easy to adjust temperature, and you can use it year round.
Our neighbors got a pretty large inflatable pool last summer. Looked like fun! They drained it very late fall, then left it on the ground. It’s still there, grass is ruined. Not sure what they are planning.
Not allowed by city ordinance or HOA covenant here. And the neighbors just got one. “Temporary”? No fence, looks like a toddler death trap to me. It is covered, but it worries me. Trying to work up the energy to call them about it.
Another friend just posted about purchasing a larger galvanized pool - they referenced this website for how to set up, add a pump, etc. - theirs is a pretty large size (a couple of adults could easily fit) and they said “all in” about $700 (tank, sealer, pump, chemicals).

Yeah, our neighbors got away with no fence because of “temporary”clause. But anyone could have climbed the stairs they used and fallen in.
Is it a problem to your and yours? There is no fence between you and them, is that what you mean? Where I live there seems to me there are no pool safety requirements in private back yards.
