Advice on Continuing Supervised Driving for Freshman in College

<p>I have a daughter like that - she did not get her license till the summer after her sophomore year in college, and that’s just because it was too embarrassing to be driven to work by mom… She is a good driver, but never liked driving, and now is happy to be a grad student in a city with good public transportation, and no car.</p>

<p>There is no point for your D getting her license now. It will raise your insurance, and will not benefit her, since she will not be driving during the school year. Wait till next summer, and let her take the initiative.</p>

<p>OP, your daughter will not have to drive at any point during her Princeton years. Everybody lives in the dorms. Everything she will need is on campus, or within easy walking distance (i.e. on Nassau St. or Prospect St.), or accessible by public transportation. So it’s perfectly OK to let this slide until next summer or even later.</p>
