Alright, so my first choice out of high school was the University of Maryland College Park. I went to a Private highly acknowledged private school in charlotte and had a 3.01 GPA with 1670 SAT scores and I played Rugby. I did not get accepted. My reason for it being my first choice is because of the opportunities to be a fireman while i study. It is probably the BEST location for college students looking to be volunteer fireman at the same time. Very active firehouses with student programs… it doesn’t get much better. My career goal long term is to be a career fireman. So in my life right now my #1 Priority is firefighting. I Currently attend ECU, and am a PoliSci Major with a 2.67 GPA (I know not that great) I slacked off first semester because i got too into partying and didnt really care about my studies. I have gotten on with a local volunteer department here, and I like it, I have also been a lot more focused this semester and my GPA should be much much higher and balance out to lets say a 3.2 for the year. I like it at ECU, but I don’t feel like im doing anything meaningful. The department I’m on is not very busy, and I just feel like im going through the motions here just doing my time until i graduate and can get on with the Charlotte Fire Department. Transferring schools has been on my mind frequently this semester. I would like to get into the college park area for the sole reason of firefighting. Im just looking for some other peoples input on what I should do. I have also thought about UMD University College if i cant get into UMDCP, but I am conflicted.
