advice to keep from burning out

I am a transfer student and I feel like doors keep shutting. I really feel like giving up on college all together. Does anyone have any advice on how to make it through rough patches in school?

From my own experience, I can say that learning to manage stress levels during tense situations helps quite a bit. For example, addressing exam anxiety before/during the test itself makes it much easier to unwind later. If I’m better able to unwind later, my whole day is better for it.

There are free podcasts that help with pre-exam meditations, guided relaxations, etc. The point is this: manage your stress level regularly throughout the day. Don’t just wait until you feel like you’re going to have a meltdown. Then, it’s usually too late - you’re just doing damage control as opposed to personal wellness.

Start first thing in the morning, breathe deeply, and remember to consciously evaluate how you’re doing. It’s helped me a lot.

makes sense. Ive only been trying to deal with stuff after it happens which is NOT working

This might be a bit more general than what you’re looking for, but I like to have a significant amount of time to myself in the morning. I usually get up about 2.5 hours before my first class, eat breakfast by myself, and spend some time reading a magazine or organizing my week. I find that having that much time before I have to talk to people puts me in a much better mood for the rest of the day, since I’m sufficiently aware of what’s going on by the time I get to class. Setting aside blocks of time to relax or do some light work makes the rest of the day feel a lot less hectic.
