You can gain entry into medical school from any college if your gpa and MCAT are high. Period. Seen it done over and over and over. The prestige of undergraduate school is less important than your scores.

Second, Pitzer and Wake are vastly different schools in two distinct parts of the country. Where is home for you?

I know the Claremont Colleges are all awesome but also each one is unique. Are you a geek or a greek as I might say? Wake is an awesome school, but also an awesome social experience, athletics, fabulous facilities and overall superb undergraduate (balanced) undergraduate experience. I know a lot of kids from Wake who got into Med School.

Nothing against Pitzer (or CMC, or Scripps, or Mudd etc.) They are small and unique and very good at what they do.

But Wake is a true university…though one of the smallest in the Division I of NCAA athletics at around 5,000 students.

What are your interests besides school? Is going away to college a priority and valuable to you?

I would say that I have the values of a geek (i have fun studying, dont like partying EVERY weekend, but i do like to go out once in a while) but I’m not the brightest twig in the bunch. I love meeting new people though. So i guess i’m in between geek and greek.

I do want to gain an valuable experience that I wouldnt have back home, I’m very open to new things and I feel that I can adjust well.

This is why I really can’t decide. I visited Pitzer and loved it. I loved the fact that you can take classes at any of the 5 C’s. But it may be a little too “liberal” for my liking.

I thrive best is an environment that is structured (to an extent) but still allows me the freedom to be myself and create my own experiences.

I also like the fact that Pitzer is near L.A., the beach and some friends; but I hear that overall Wake is much stronger academically. Is this true?

^^^ I think that is fairly accurate. Wake is a superb school. Lots to do…mountains nearby (1 hour away) and the beaches in NC are great too…but 4 hours drive. Its a great mix between geek and greek, if you ask me.

But…its a long ways from Hawaii…not that such is bad…just a bit more of a hassle for getting home on holidays and in case of an emergency. However, they do have kids from Hawaii there and also from foreign countries.

Wake will challenge you…you must work hard to get good grades. There are party animals everywhere and Wake is no exception…so avoid them like the plague. Make friends with students who are serious about their studies and pick healthy alternatives for entertainment and relaxing.

Wake is very well respected and lots of companies recruit there…

They recently won the National Marketing Campaign for Yum! Brands Food, beating USC, Michigan and UCLA. Its an outstanding school.
