Advisable/"Required" SSAT Score

Hello, I am an 8th-grade student attending a k-12 international school in South Korea. I’ve decided to apply to a few top boarding schools (with L’ville, Hotchkiss, and Middlesex at the top of my list), but this was an extremely last-minute decision. As some of the schools I’m applying to require SSAT scores, I signed up for a test on Jan 8. To my knowledge, SSAT scores are released approximately 14 days after it is taken, meaning that my test scores would be unavailable for me to check before submitting. I have two questions regarding this:

  • Keeping my background in mind (ORM, S. Korea), what is the suggested “minimum score” that I should aim to get for these top boarding schools?
  • In addition to that, can I submit the SSAT scores to TO schools after I see them (would be a late submission)?

Thank you!

This booklet may help you to understand how you should handle SSAT including how to super-score, a prevailing concept in US college and prep school admissions.
The booklet also has a table of average ssat scores and admission rates for many prep schools. I would not rely on exact numbers in the table, but you can get general idea from the table.
