Advisement during FASET

Do I have to make an appointment with my advisor before going to FASET, or does that just happen without appointments at FASET?

you will meet your advisor during FASET.

Maybe it’s changed in the last couple of years, but you don’t meet with the adviser one-on-one. It’s more like he talks about the major in front of kids who have signed up for that major.

The above comment is correct. The advisors for your major will give presentations the morning of your second day of FASET and brief you on your department, what the major you have selected consists of, a general outline of the coursework, and a suggested roadmap for when to take which courses. There is also an open Q/A session with both the advisors and current students in the department. These presentations tend to be fairly informative, and when you actually have your first one-on-one advisement session with your advisor, you’ll realize you’re not missing much.

i didnt say you would meet with your advisor 1 on 1. I just said you would meet your advisor. You can ask him about classes to after the presentation.

Actually, it depends on your major. I’m in a smaller major and we met with our advisor one-on-one and then all registered in a classroom instead of the general chaos in the library.

But yeah, you don’t need to make an appointment.
