Advising and Career Services

For those that attended or have students that attended - please rate advising at PSU and also career placement services.

Hi 1. I will not comment on advising because my only knowledge is my daughter drops by to run scenarios by her advisor- she’s constantly trying out different options and she seems very happy. 2. Career Services- well I know this depends on your major I would highly stress rewording your question for your child specific major.
3. My daughter has had exceptional guidance, networking seminars, resume review, and invited to special meet and greets. As a freshman she entered the career fair ready to interview (yes she was prepared because she went to career services-but I would not say she is a type A personality- but she appears to be on paper) she went hoping to get interview experience- she had several interviews and received three offers for internships. I warn you she is a computer Engineer major - there are more opportunities in that field. Her sophomore year she received other more prestigious offers. Now if your child is in a major that doesn’t have the early internships I would suggest applying for research projects- yes they are paid and there are a lot at State College (where you have the opportunities to take some classes as well). Additionally most internships will give you a stipend for housing (and cheapest housing is usually at a local college). Hope this helps

@skibunny2 Major will most likely be engineering or math related. Your answer was very helpful.
