Advising Plus

If you got an email for ‘Advising Plus’ is it mandatory that you participate in this program?

I got an email.

If you look at the bottom, it says:

“Please mark your calendar and plan to attend one of the REQUIRED meetings that will introduce you to YOUR coach and the Advising Plus program”

It could mean that if we don’t go to those, we’re out, but I’m assuming it is required, period. It was from the Dean and think Deans have that kind of power… Or maybe that’s just private schools

Yeah, I know the Dean has a high level of importance but I was hoping the “Please mark your calendar…” was suggesting that if you don’t go you’re out and it’s done. It just seems like a burden when we have to get adjusted to college and classes.

maybe it won’t be too bad.
actually I’m thinking having some kind of mentor to see every other week could be nothing but helpful… As long as it’s not messing up my schedule…

That’s true, i guess if it is mandatory i should be optimistic about it =)

I was also selected for this. Does anyone know for sure if this is 100% mandatory? Also, does anyone have any more information on this program (such as the selection process)?

I spoke to an adviser today about it. It’s not mandatory and it was just a random selection. Don’t think you’re any more special than the rest of the class lol

Haha, thanks larryw09. I see, I wonder if this could be beneficial. Are we the first year to have this offered to? I’d love to hear the experiences of others if we aren’t.

Thank so so much larryw09 for checking with an adviser about it - it does seem beneficial but I didn’t want to feel obligated.
