Fashion and your taste in clothing will most liley change over the years, so buying shirts to wear for your whole life is not a very logic idea.

My d have to wear polos to school, and they have lots of Aeropostale…they wash well, don’t shrink and hold up just fine

Here is the deal…you are in school…when you move on to college or work or whatever, you will “outgrow” much of your wardrobe, so expending lots of money eh

When my daughters see that they can get almost 4 shirts for the price of one lacoste, or two sweaters at hollister on sale for 1/2 of one at Polo, they will go for quantity

Money saved can go for shoes, belts, etc

What is funny is that alot of say AandF stuff is made to look old…ragged, so if you have a shirt of another brand that gets ragged, you have organically achieved the result

I do agree with CityGal55 that buying the classic, and generally more expensive, will last you way longer than the trendy brands. I’ve never heard of Ralph-Lauren-Polo-polo’s (haha didn’t know how to do that gramatically correct) being out of fashion. Not saying that a shirt will last this many washes, but there are more people wearing “Polo” at age 30 than wearing aeropostale.

For Aero prices, you can go to H&M and buy something that looks much better.

I love H&M! And I do like their clothing much more than Aero’s

aww poo. our h&m won’t open until september.

Here is something to remember, as well, your body from age 19 to age 35 or forty shifts…it does, so a shirt that fits you at 19 may NOT at 35

The point is, even if its not Aero we are talkng about, spending 85 on a tshirt for college, eh

My H is a golfer, has to wear collared shirts, and plays at some pretty nice clubs…have to tell you, don’t see that many Polo’s out there, and if they ARE polo’s those logo’s aren’t glaring

So if going for the “label” don’t have wee horsies, or fishies, or whatever all over the place…

While that may be true, you can avoid that by wearing classic “preppy” stuff, like RL or JCREW polos, instead of trendy stuff, like say a destroyed tshirt from A&F. The classic styles are timeless, and will never go out of style. Plus, you see everyone from teens to adults wearing the classic styles (showing how the style lasts through age and generations.)

My D has complained that the last 2 pairs of A&F jeans wore through…way beyond a “worn-out look” fashion statement.

She really doesn’t want to buy another pair from there but has a gift card to use up. She’s pretty picky about her jeans, and I was honestly surprised to see the brand, at least for jeans, didn’t hold up better.

well IMO, Abercrombie has some nice clothes, it’s just the way they present it kinda turns me away from them.

And to be honest, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Vineyard and all those other real preppy clothes may last long, but they look ugly. I’ve been to their websites lately and haven;t seen any nice clothes there, so who cares about how good the quality of the clothes are if there ugly (no offense to those who wear these brands)

Err…I take back my last post…

Well I take back what I said about Lacoste (even though the shirts are like $150), but I still don;t like the other preppy brands like Ralph Lauren

It seems like Lacoste sells mostly polos, am I right? There polos are nice but there damn expensive, rather buy one from AE

most of the lacoste polos besides the basic colors are incredibly ugly… I would go with the RL which is equal quality for cheaper price

Yeah, the basic color ones are nice, but i’d rather get mine from AE

AE is my number one prep store.

AE is considered fake prep, but I don’t care because I like their clothes

i like AE too ^.^v

I love AE its the main store I shop at.

nothing at AE fits me. i’ve stopped shopping at outlets for the most part. AE, A&F, Aero…i’m like a super-large in all these stores, and I’m 5’2 and weigh less than 110 pounds! it’s absurd and it lowers my self esteem when i visit those stores. department stores are cheaper and i can usually get lots of cool clothes off the racks for less money…and they look good. it’s also more fun to hunt around and find cool stuff in the gigantic juniors sections in deparment stores.
