Do most people take these? I’m going to be an engineering major and they offer them for my science and math. Would I sign up for both? Do they require a lot of additional work? Thanks for any help!!

The additional work is optional and not graded. Not everyone takes these, and I personally found that the quality of the workshop directly depends on how much work your instructors put into it. Take an AEW workshop for a subject that you feel you are weak in (for example, I had only taken an honors chemistry course in high school, so I found the Chem 209 AEW really useful). The premise of the AEW program is that students learn better when working together rather than attempting to learn by themselves, so be prepared to do some groupwork. Aside from that, AEW’s usually hand out practice prelims, which are useful. Hope that helped.

I thought we can sign up for one only?

No, you can sign up for as many as you want, provided they fit in your schedule.

The Cornell engineering staff greatly encourages AEWs, claims it can make a huge difference. Unless you are very outgoing in getting help, visiting office hours, etc, or are taking all review classes, I’d recommend the AEWs. Quality does depend on the TA though. Be bold in switching sections if you think you can get better quality elsewhere, though switching may be limited.

How about getting two at one time? Can I handle it?

You can always sign up for them and drop them if they aren’t helpful or take up too much of your time. On the other hand, in most cases, you don’t have to enroll and can just come whenever you want for the additional help. They usually get more crowded around prelims of course…

However, if you think you will probably need the help, it is much more of a motivation to go if you actually are enrolled for credit :P

If you have absolutely no experience with programming, I would recommend taking an AEW for CS. I should’ve taken one, and my friends said it was worth it.

^ yes, I thought so as well and ticked both math and CS AEWs.
