Affirmative Action and College Admissions

My DD is writing a research paper for her AP English class on this topic and asked me to post a request for information on interesting studies for her to explore - both pro and con on this subject.

Thanks in advance

SCUALUM

There are some major threads on CC on the subject. Do some searches and she’ll likely find a wide variety of perspectives.

wow - you are not kidding…

Study the case of Bakke. from memory, it was calif. in mid 70’s. Again from memory, I think it was first case of “reverse discrimination” to hit big national headlines.
Personally, I don’t like the phrase reverse discrimination. Shortchanging one person because of their race(for example) is discrimination regardless of color, as I see it. BUT thats a whole 'nother issue.

For a legal perspective, [CIR Home](http://www.cir-usa.org). The Center for Individual Rights does some work on the subject.
