Affirmative action - consolidated

Sorry if I’m coming in late, but…

What a joke. And a very sad one too.

I’m only really beginning to understand how the white middle class takes it in the shorts, as so many have been trying to tell me for so long now.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate racists and racism. With a passion. But A.A. is nothing more than goverment and institution-sponsored racism.

Take for example the SF 181 Federal employment form. One of my personal pet-peeves for decades now…

“Providing this information is voluntary and has no impact on your employment status, but in the instance of missing information, your employing agency will attempt to identify your race and ethnicity by visual observation…”

By “visual observation???” what the he!! does that mean? And, “no impact on your employment status?” What a load of crap.

I’ve personally seen this affect applicants time and time again. And I once asked a personnel director the following questions: 1) Who gets to decide what someone’s race is base on “visual observation” and 2) what training have they had to qualify them to do this?

I got no answer… Nobody ever had the brass ones to ask the question.

Folks, we’ve all been sold a bill of goods. Regardless of what race we are. It does nothing more than promote racism and rob those who deserve it of their sense of accomplishment.

John.

But as speedo and I have discussed, what exactly are they losing out on my proposal? I disagree with a lot of what speedo says, but I fully acknowledge that he has a good point with respect to the ineffectiveness of my proposal. It seems like the only thing they’d lose out on is federal grants for research, but as lockn noted, that problem is easily resolved by spinning off the research components into X Research Institute.

Is this supposed to cause cognitive dissonance for me? Why in the world would I support admitting or giving financial aid to illegal immigrants? Edit I’m all for admitting F-1 internationals, but illegal immigrants are not the same thing. Period.

Like I asked, what funds? You mean federal grants for research?

My apologies. I should have been searching for threads on this topic that are out of place a little more frequently. Wrong forum, some wrong information.

This thread is closed. Aspects of affirmative action that actually pertain to college admission are discussed in this site’s College Admission Forum in the thread referenced in my signature block. Another link in my signature block reminds all participants here about the Terms of Service by which we all agree to be polite and to refrain from personal insults.
