Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

yeah. I think it’s in the best interest of insurance companies to provide better service. They are the least important part of the puzzle, here. They aren’t exactly “necessary” to the equation. They should make themselves useful and relied upon, imho.

I can’t imagine that customer service is going to get better for a long, long time, even though it is most assuredly in their interest. It was already bad, and now they have more customers, plus they are completely confused with all the changes. Overloaded + confused does not equal better customer service.

The latest from California… Just blowing thru the numbers…

Twenty thousand sign ups… Yesterday.

Around the country positives and negatives…

How is a May graduate supposed to know, much less prove, how much he’ll make in 2014 if he doesn’t have a job yet? My son is in the same situation. He has to decide whether to get an ACA policy or stay with Tricare Young Adult at $156/month.

Insurance companies are a mess. I think I have talked to Anthem Blue Cross 12 times.

12 TIMES.

I havent talked to Anthem for a few days. Probably due for a call.

Of course…

[Anthem Blue Cross leads California exchange enrollment two months in - latimes.com](Anthem Blue Cross leads California exchange enrollment two months in)

CF, are you going with a LHT? And if yes, where to?

dstark, I told my wife today she could call BCBSNC and waste an hour on the phone or she could just wait a few days and see if we get a bill in the mail. She called, and they told her the bills were going out today. (Yes, and your check’s in the mail!)

NJres, :)…

dstark, stop shilling for that liar, Peter Lee. You can’t believe anything this guy says. I wonder how many of these people are the so-called young invincibles. We do know that 95% of these people are receiving assistance or signed up for Medicaid. Also, let’s see how many are paying customers before you declare victory.

One of the comments to the LA Times article:

"Even with substantially increased growth in the enrollment rate, Callifornia will have enrolled less than 25% of the desired 833,000* persons needed as California’s share of the 7 million enrollees projected. It is unlikely to get above 60% by the end of open enrollment.

Moreover, 38.5% (in round figures) of the enrollees need to be “young and healthy”. Recent reports peg this number as closer to 21%."

GP,

You have to be kidding me. You are quoting from the comments section?

The comment was Cal is only going to meet 60 percent of its goal?

It wasnt that long ago when people were talking about the exchange never working. The code had to be rewritten. We had to delay ACA for a year.

Then people took the signups in Oct as projections for the total signups by the end of March.

Now I have to go find this stupid comment. :)

I want a real bet this time. We have to find somebody trustworthy to hold the money.
Somebody trustworthy and scared. :)

I cant see the comment section.

GP, do you want to bet and take 500,000 signups or less?

By when? Last month? They’ve already got over a quarter of a million as of now.

NJres, the LHT is a terrific bike, but I already have a steel touring bike, a Rivendell Atlantis, which I’ve taken across the US twice, once west to east along the northern border, and once south to north in the Sierra and the Cascades. The new one will be a mountain bike, a Krampus, for the Great Divide in 2015.
CF… Shhhhhh. ;)

For some reason that comment in the LA Times was important. :)

Like I said, none of these people have paid a dime yet. Most of them (greater than 90%) are receiving subsidies, so let’s see if any of them will agree to pay any money for health insurance. Also, why didn’t Peter Lee share any demographic info about these people.

I will repeat what I already said…this guy is a liar. He is the one who said in July that the rates on the exchange were 25% lower than what people were currently paying for insurance. He failed to say that he was comparing the individual market to the group market, an apples to orange comparison. Actually, he had it completely backwards, the exchange plans were on average 25% more expensive.

500,000?

Negative and wrong is such a bad quadrant to live in… :)

Instead of signups, how about paying exchange customers.

Why are you saying this? You know it’s not true. Plenty of people have already paid their first premium.

How many people with plans on the Ca exchange have made a premium payment?

More than none, GP, which is enough to disprove what you said.

If the number is so good why didn’t Peter - everything is wonderful - Lee release the number.
