Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

catastrophic plans now ‘ok’:

[Obama administration relaxes rules of health-care law four days before deadline - The Washington Post](http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/obama-administration-relaxes-rules-of-health-care-law-four-days-before-deadline/2013/12/19/81bc3132-690b-11e3-8b5b-a77187b716a3_story.html)

Most of our premiums aren’t due for a week or so. It’s irrelevant how many have already paid. BCBS just released their bills for next month and most people in MI (like myself) got them just a few days ago. I’m betting most other companies are on a similar timetable.

I don’t get it…is ACA a law or is it a blueprint that can be changed whenever our commander-in-chief feels like it.

Romanigypsyeyes, so what is relevant…whatever selective info Peter Lee feels like disseminating.

Bottom Line: If you like your plan, you still can’t keep it.

(Psst, dstark, this is for you. GP, don’t pay attention.)

[Covered California Daily News: Covered California Enrollment Surging In Last Week For January Coverage](Covered California Daily News: Covered California Enrollment Surging In Last Week For January Coverage)

How would Peter Lee know how many people have paid? People pay their insurance company, not Covered California, and a lot of people are saying they haven’t even gotten their bills yet.

He could find out if he wanted to. The insurance companies will do whatever this guy wants

Post 7681

"In allowing people with canceled policies to claim hardship exemptions, the Obama administration is freeing them from one of the central features of the law: a requirement that most Americans must have health insurance or risk a fine. The exemption also frees them to buy “catastrophic,” or skimpy coverage. "

Interesting exemption. Are we insuring uninsured only to tell the insured that they can now go uninsured?

Cardinal Fang, :).

Love the link. Extending hours.

GP, where are we on our bet? Despite your rambling, I will take over 500,000 paying signups in California.

You can have the under.

“Responding to high call volumes, Covered California’s Service Center is extending its hours this Saturday, to operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.”

500,000 PAYING EXCHANGE signups?

By Dec 23?

So what are the stakes for the bet? Bragging rights, or something more substantial?

Well parents are going to pay… ;)

First, I got to make sure I understand what the bet is.

dstark can assume the college debt I am paying for my kid.

No… Money…

GP doesnt think the signups are going to pay.

There will be 500,000 signups that will be paid for…

Unlike what the commenter of the LA Times article said.

500,000 Covered California signups who actually make a premium payment by Jan 1. Is this the bet? (excluding Medicaid)

GP…I am just shaking my head.

When does open enrollment end?

Your stupid link…

"“Even with substantially increased growth in the enrollment rate, Callifornia will have enrolled less than 25% of the desired 833,000* persons needed as California’s share of the 7 million enrollees projected. It is unlikely to get above 60% by the end of open enrollment.”

So you want the deadline to be March 31?

500,000 Covered California subscribers (excluding Medicaid) who have made a premium payment by March 31. Is this the bet?
