Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

No…I Want a grace period. Have to give the buyers a chance to pay.

That shouldnt be a problem for you because you dont think 500,000 people are going to sign up. ;)

It is easier to count sign ups. What is your magic number on signups so we can have a bet and dont have to rely on insurance companies providing us with any information.

I will bet there will be more than 500,000 signups by Apr 1.

You put up that link that said there wont.

How long a grace period? I don’t trust the signup numbers. If this is anything like Chicago ward politics, we could have a lot of dead people signing up.

I dont think we are going to get the paid mumbers.

The great thing about the sign up numbers is those numbers will be verified by the insurance companies.

You dont believe the insurance company numbers?

See…

Isnt this great?

Verification.

[LA Times](http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-78535609/)

"Anthem has 32,241 enrollees, or 30% of California’s enrollment through Nov. 30, Covered California said. Blue Shield is next with 29,952 customers, or a 27% share.

Kaiser Permanente, the state’s biggest HMO, grabbed 24% of enrollment with 25,869 people. Woodland Hills-based insurer Health Net Inc. is fourth with 17,037 people, or a 16% share."

Signup numbers are meaningless unless these people pay for the insurance. You could signup a billion people, but if no one pays, then you have zero people with insurance.

Ok…do I get a month’s grace period? That is what I get from Anthem now.

Will this new development change open enrollment periods?

So 500,000 Covered California subscribers (excluding Medicaid) who have signed up by March 31 and have made their first premium payment by April 31?

Has to be April 30. Only 30 days in April.

GP, just out of curiosity, why don’t you use the “edit” button rather than posting 3, 4, 5+ times in a row?

Samurai, how do you think it changes the enrollment period?

There is no Apr 31.

May 1.

What is a subscriber?

There are 4 people in my plan. I pay for 4 people. That counts as 4 paid.

How much do you want to bet?

I want to bet both paid and sign ups. Two bets.

I have ADHD. :)

No, we’re talking insurance policies or plans.

I don’t think the new development changes enrollment much in California. Most people who had insurance want insurance.

GP, if dstark doesn’t take that bet, I’ll take it. It’s a pain in the neck to sign up. Few people will sign up and then not pay. And just to be clear, we’re talking about 500,000 people, not 500,000 policies, correct?

[xposted. Now I see we’re talking 500,000 policies, or over a million people. That’s not the bet I want to make. The projected 7 million nationwide were 7 million people. You want over a seventh of them to be in California?]

CF, see my post 7714

Oh, GP, you are certain this is all doomed. And yet you commented earlier that it’s just too soon to predict. I guess you meant too early to see any good, but overdue on the glass half empty stuff.

It’s not perfect. Ok?

LF, I thought this law was doomed 4 years ago.

Well if it makes you feel any better lf, my glass is half full. And when it’s empty, I’m filling it back up again…

Bd, mind sharing some of that wine? My glass is empty ;)
