Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

GP,

From Washington Post:

“No, we’re talking insurance policies or plans.”

That is freaking ridiculous and I dont mean freaking. ;)

Telling though…

CF, you cant have my bet. :)

Maybe busdriver11 will bet. She is gloomy at times. :)

Aren’t these sign up numbers we are seeing from Covered Ca. referring to plans?

Well GP, 4 years ago was mighty early. What did you do about your feelings? And how did you know all the details, before they were released?

If the Covered Ca. sign up numbers actually mean total number of people in all the plans, I will agree to it.

I think the numbers for California are people. The earlier numbers were definitely people:

“For the two-month period [October and November], 109,296 individuals enrolled in Covered California health insurance plans.”

[Covered California Daily News: Covered California And California Department Of Health Care Services Release November Statistics For Health Insurance Marketplace](Covered California Daily News: Covered California And California Department Of Health Care Services Release November Statistics For Health Insurance Marketplace)

“Bd, mind sharing some of that wine? My glass is empty”

Sending you a mental glass of wine. I got this cab for $11, on sale from $23.99. Can’t beat that, plus it’s really good.

“Maybe busdriver11 will bet. She is gloomy at times”

I am a bit gloomy on the ACA, but I haven’t followed the CA signups enough to make a reasoned bet. Plus, I suspect this will be worked out for better or worse within the next several years. I only like to make bets that are fairly certain, and anything goes on this one.

LF, after witnessing the process by which it was passed (no support from the other side) and the unusual methods to ram the law through despite its unpopularity, as well as all the fundamental problems we have reiterated ad nauseum on this thread, I knew it wasn’t going to work.

Busdriver11, I only like to make bets that are fairly certain too.

Except for my bet with xiggi about who would win The Voice Season 5.

Ah, who won? And what were the stakes?

The LA Times article refers to enrollees. What does an enrollee mean. Is it a plan subscriber or one of the individuals in the plan?

Xiggi won. It was a gentlemens bet so that is ok.

I was thinking about opening a bottle of wine, but instead I’ll wait for the Christmas cookies Fang Jr. is baking, with some milk.

Ah well, you have to let them win some of the time…

Are you serious, cf, you actually have a child baking Christmas cookies? Where did I go wrong? How can I have a cooking child in my life?

Enrollee is a person.

I am going to make a gentlemens bet with you GP.

How many enrollees do you think we are going to have by the end of the open enrollment period?

I started him off when he was tiny. There are some things Fang Jr doesn’t do that I wish he’d do, but he is completely solid on baking Christmas cookies.

So that nationwide 7 million number is not enrolled plans but total individuals in all the plans?

I’d trade a lot for that. My kids are completely solid on eating Christmas cookies, but well, who isn’t. Maybe I can coerce them to give it a try this year. I’m not asking much, just the Pillsbury dough kind that you slice up and put on the pan.

These articles keep using applications and people interchangeably. It is confusing.

I think my mom asks herself the same question…

They’re coming to stay with us for the week tomorrow and my mom LOVES to bake cookies. She kept asking if we had all these ingredients. I kept responding with “I don’t know, I don’t cook.”

I think she thinks she failed me lol. But never fear, I am surprising her with full cabinets worth of ingredients when she gets home. I’d bake the cookies myself, but I don’t feel like sending anyone to the ER. I also am not a big cookie fan. Oatmeal raisin = yumm! But I don’t like chocolate (I know, I’m a terrible person)
