affording the overall price

How can you tell your parents can pretty reasonably afford a 52k/year price without cutting back on their expenses if you dont qualify for financial aid? Many people consider my family to be pretty wealthy, but when someone talks about spending that kind of money I don’t know if it’s reasonable.

^ Got tax returns?

Yeah…why do you ask?

They are a good measure of your family’s resources.

Your parents can tell you if they can or cannot afford that amount. Ask them.

Yeah I talked about it a little more with them, and I’m planning to go to UT-Austin if i get in and I get instate tuition. I’ve come to the conclusion I wanna go somewhere relatively less expensive regardless. Thanks for all the help, ladies and gents.

UT is not $52k/year if you’re instate…luckily. Just stay in the top 10% of your class and you’ll be good. That is, if you reeeeeally want to go to UT of all places.

Start thinking about what color of a mohawk you want while you’re at it and what body part you want to connect a nose ring to with a gold chain.

$52K per year is $208K over four years. That’s a lot of money to almost anyone.

It’s admirable that you’re willing to conserve your parents’ money even if they’re willing to pay that much.
