"Afluenza" Defense

Yes, apparently he inherited the ahole part.

Wonder why she went to L.A. & not Houston before transfer back to Tarrant Co.?

Hopefully there won’t be a mix up that allows her to escape!

The Dad is possibly someone who grew up poor and perhaps felt disrespected by the rich kids in his school or town. So he may view having money as automatically making him deserving of reverence. His behavior sure seems indicative of insecurity. Money may buy a lot of things, but it definitely doesn’t buy one social prominence here in the way he may have hoped. It doesn’t buy class. And it probably won’t buy them out of repeated criminal behavior. Eventually the behavior rises to a level which cannot be remedied by flashing cash around. Ethan is no longer the teen who looks like a young boy. Now he is grown, and his appearance is more off putting.

There are some INCREDIBLY wealthy people in Texas. This guy doesn’t seem to possess the kind of wealth which is particularly notable here. But Mommy and Daddy don’t seem to realize that.

I was wondering the same thing, bookmom. Does anyone know why she was shipped to LA?

So, he has been moved from a facility in Guadalajara to Mexico City.

Is that preferred over a juvenile detention facility in Texas?

I’ve always heard bad things about jails in Mexico… Then again- let him stay!

Yea, cheaper for US to let them house this kid than us taxpayers. Glad he’s away from dysfunctional, enabling mommy.

Lots of pics of Tonya Couch arriving in US in handcuffs.

trashy

Unpaid gentlemen’s club tab? Such a loser who doesn’t get it.

@Youdon’tsay - And mom bailed him out again.

Apparently she doesn’t get it either.

So what happened to the dog when they got arrested in Mexico? The dog is the only one in that family I have sympathy for.

I think the defense may have been onto something when it claimed the kid “didn’t know any better.” He’s being brought up in an atmosphere where no laws, on the books or common sense, were observed. The parents are clearly somewhat nutsy.

If so, they shoudl have jailed his parents since their parenting led to vehicular homicide. You can’t let them both be free.

Pretty sketchy details here.

Some how I missed that he and his mom threw a “Going Away” party before fleeing Texas.

I just watched some of the 20/20 episode about this case. Wow, what a travesty. It was hard to watch.

Such a bizarre case - and now we have two seperate cases to follow - mom Tonya is still in LA - but has Texas court date on Tuesday. Waiting to see if she posts $1 million bond or if it is reduced. Son Ethan in some sort of immigration holding center - not a prison - in Mexico - where he could remain for months. I don’t think this is the outcome they envisioned when they ran to Mexico!

Both of them in some sort of custody - works for me!

They could keep them both in whatever custody they’re in right now for months and years and I wouldn’t object.

When you think it can get no worse:

“A new report says affluenza teen Ethan Couch spent more than $2,000 on strippers and alcohol at two Puerto Vallarta clubs.”

You missed the best part - he did not have the money to pay his tab! Club security escorted him back to where they were staying and Mommy paid his tab!

Mommy has a court date tomorrow in LA.
