Tonya Couch is back in Fort Worth, Texas this afternoon. Believe she has a bail hearing tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if the $1 million bail stands or is reduced.
I’d say she is proven flight risk and high bail makes sense.
She will only have to pay 10% of that if she goes through a bail bondsman. Very few people actually post the full amount of their bail.
I know the 10% is generally the case, but something I read somewhere implied that she had to come up with the entire amount. She has a hearing tomorrow at 9 am.
Actually, now I do see the 10% being mentioned, and her attorney has requested bail be reduced to $15,000.
She fled once, she’ll do it again. I hope they keep the bail high.
If she flees, she will owe the entire amount. She will need a bail bonds person willing to accept her as a client.
I highly doubt the Judge will reduce that bail.
So, the mom’s lawyer was stuck in traffic and missed the first court hearing- now has to wait until Monday for bond hearing.
“Stuck in traffic” is not a well accepted excuse for many courtrooms.
However, that is the lawyer’s fault, not the mom’s fault. Unless she was with the lawyer and driving.
Whenever I get needlessly stressed about traffic making me late for something, I always think, “it’s only really important if it’s a flight, a wedding, or a court date”. Hah!
So, it looks like she spends the wknd in jail. If the 10% is correct - she could not come up with $100,000? Thought they were so wealthy.
^^Based on what Fred had to pay for rehab I think he only takes home about $200k from his business. Just because a business grosses $15million a year it doesn’t mean the owner takes it home.
This woman’s whole life seems to be a gold plated fiasco. I am not exactly sympathetic to her having to spend the week-end in jail. Think of the taxpayer dollars spent on the wild goose chase tracking her down.
And the behavior that she continues to model for her son is pathetic. Who assists one of their children in evading the authorities? This kid never had a chance.
Better than a soap opera. The sniping between her, her attorneys and the county sheriff today - priceless. He was all over media with his one liner that it’s jail, not a resort, after she complained about the accomodations. He is so attention hungry - personally escorting her to jail and to court.

The judge would be nuts to reduce the bail IMHO. But some judges are nuts.
^^Like the judge who let this kid go free instead of doing some jail time.
I read in the paper today that the mom was complaining about the jail conditions. The sheriff told her that it was a jail not a resort. I just had to laugh.
^^^ Anyone else wonder if the mom is now going to claim the affluenza defense… her parents spoiled her so much that she doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong? LOL
